What does love mean? How sincerely do we love? And what are we prepared to sacrifice for love? “Amoroso” by the multi-award-winning Polish theatre company Teatr Klucz is an intimate and powerful performance about love in all its many forms.

“Strive, therefore, to turn your heart away from love of visible things and towards the invisible” – this quote from the 14th-century spiritual writer Thomas a Kempis forms the starting point for “Amoroso”. The piece explores the many facets of love: happy and fulfilling encounters as well as loss, abandonment and longing. Poetic, dreamlike and unhurried, the production combines dance, improvisation and spoken word to create a multi-layered exploration of the visible and invisible aspects of love. Following a successful tour through Poland and several awards, “Amoroso” can now be seen in Germany for the first time.

Klucz Theatre is one of the few theatre companies in Poland formed of artists with disabilities. The group has been working as a resident ensemble at the Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań since 2016.

Press:
“The Klucz Theatre is a phenomenon. The Poznań group, led for several seasons by choreographer and dancer Janusz Orlik, has grown into one of the most interesting phenomena in Polish theatre.” (Polish theatre critic Dominik Gac)
