The Performing Arts Festival Berlin is taking place online on the occasion of its 5th anniversary and celebrates its opening on May 19. The central series “Introducing”, which presents exciting and new artists in and for Berlin and is jointly selected by the theatres Ballhaus Ost, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensæle and Theaterdiscounter, has also migrated into the digital space.
In collaboration with the partners of the festival and the schedule of programming, a documentary miniseries in English and German has been created that collects artistic voices talking about the current situation over the course of three episodes and allows them to be heard. Each episode is dedicated to a different question with the goal of making the different perspectives within the context of the current events visible, audible and tangible. Among others, the Berlin director Oliver Zahn can be seen here, whose production “Futur Germania” unfortunately cannot be shown at HAU3.
At the premiere of the first episode of PAF Documentary Series, Hans Unstern will present some songs from the new album “DIVEN” together with Simon Bauer. Unfortunately, the record release concert planned for PAF at HAU2 cannot take place, but an online version will be made up for HAU YouTube channel on June 13. Contrasexual love songs and shimmering agitprop fairy tales for a world after the shaving compulsion will be presented.

In the “Digital Showroom” of PAF@ artists and groups present their works that had originally been planned for the schedule of programming to the audience using words and (moving) images, opening up points of access and providing creative approaches to their artistic practice and projects – or provide invitations to live streams of their work. In addition, the Digital Showroom will present a large number of performance venues.
In the “Digital Showroom” you can see the video clip with the song “Stadt für Alle” from the musical “Stadt unter Einfluss” by Christiane Rösinger / HAU, whose re-run unfortunately cannot take place as part of PAF. It reminds of “good old times” at HAU without a minimum distance of 1.5 m. In her first directorial work in autumn 2019 with eight musicians and a choir of tenant activists from Kreuzberg and Neukölln the musician and author Christiane Rösinger has worked on the housing question as the social question of our time for the stage. It will be back on stage at HAU1 in the coming season.
The six artists of “Introducing” – Wenzel U. Vöcks & Federico Schwindt, Bambi Bambule, Simon Zeller, Jakob Krog & Jay Fiskerstrand, Gloria Höckner & Team, Tobias Malcharzik and Pauline Jacob – will each present a tutorial for at home, based on their selected work. They invite you to view their performances as practical knowledge.
