Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens – the internationally renowned artist and activist duo and pioneering icons of radical feminist and queer art – are back in Berlin! With passion, desire and an eco-sexual declaration of love for the Earth.

“Playing with Fire: An Ecosexual Emergency” is a life-affirming ecosexual documentary that emerged from the ashes of the devastating fires in California. When a bolt of lightning sets the redwood forest surrounding Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens’ home in Boulder Creek alight, the long-term lovers are forced to temporalily leave their house. They transform their loss and grief into ecosexual art, in which they understand fire as destructive, regenerative and erotic, blending humour, communal care, social justice and environmental awareness into a lush and fiery journey of transformation.

From an ecosexual perspective, in which the Earth becomes a lover, the film encounters firefighters, artists, scientists, neighbours and others who nurture their very own relationships with fire.

Albert, the mythical white peacock from Boulder Creek, serves as the narrator guiding viewers through the film, which culminates in a ceremonial ‘wedding to the fire’ on the riverbank amidst the redwoods. “Playing with Fire” is a creative and urgent call to action in the face of the worsening climate crisis, and at the same time a powerful portrait of queer resilience in a world that is ablaze.

Following the film, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens invite you to join some flaming ecosexuals for a hot “Ecosexual Wedding Ritual to Fire”. Everyone is invited to be brides or grooms and to take vows together to “love, honour and cherish the fire” . Or simply to be a witness. Beth and Annie will lead the ceremony, with Joy Brooke Fairfield hosting the programme. There will be some smokin’ performances, a bouquet toss, wedding rings for everyone and surprises. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in the themes and colors of fire.

Eray Gülay aka Ray is a versatile artist, choreographer, model, and community advocate dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusive spaces. His career as a stage dancer includes works with the Folkwang Tanzstudio, Ben J. Riepe Company, and Jérôme Bel, alongside choreographies for the Strike A Pose Festival and various music videos. Represented by True Faces, Eray has modeled for Vogue Czechoslovakia, Men’s Health, and Schwarzkopf. A decade-long pillar of the ballroom scene, he teaches voguing internationally, co-founded the Shapes & Shades ballroom collective, and offers intuitive tarot readings, continually using his art to empower and connect.  

cyber_nymphs (Justyna Górowska, Ewelina Jarosz). Since 2021, Justyna and Ewelina have collaborated as an art/research duo. As artists and researchers, they exchange skills, share knowledge, and work towards making the Blue Planet a lovable and desirable home for planetary survival. The duo launched the hydrosexual movement in the arts, infusing blue environmental art with elements of sensuality and technology and a transdisciplinary approach to the global water crisis. They work at the intersection of artistic, academic, and activist worlds, exploring digital art and eco-technologies as means of amplifying ecological messages and building a multispecies future through art.

Jäckie Rydz is an interdisciplinary performance artist. They believe in performance as an art form that is embodied, vibrant in aesthetics and poetic in text. And that the space between artist and audience is always, above all, queer and tender. This belief has carried them from the queer mass called BABYLON (Nowy Teatr Warsaw, 2023) to OLYMPIA (Ballhaus Ost Berlin, 2025), their solo work on trans people in high-performance sport. FC GLORIA, a football piece, was cancelled at a state theatre for its pro-Palestinian content and later screened at Zentralwäscherei Zürich.  They currently collaborate with Pamela Moraga and Xavier Le Roy.

Muza de la Luz

Muza's (they/them) work is interdisciplinary, rooted in somatic practice and explored with themes of ritual, mythology, transformation, desire, and the erotic to raise consciousness around issues of gender identity, sexuality, sex worker rights, and environmentalism. They are a trans-nonbinary, genderfluid, queer, multiethnic, Latinx sex worker. Muza graduated from the MA Performance Program at the Norwegian Theater Academy in 2024. Recipient of Work Grant for Emerging Artists, Norwegian Directorate of Culture 2025.

Shayma AlQueer is a drag artist, performer, host and activist originally from Tunisia. Her artistic practice brings together drag, storytelling, humour and performance to explore queer visibility, identity, migration, belonging and collective resistance.

Shayma has performed in a range of cultural and public contexts, including documenta fifteen, BUGA 23, and the Kunsthalle Mannheim, where she became the first drag queen to perform at the institution. Moving between contemporary art, nightlife and community spaces, she uses drag as a tool for visibility, connection and radical joy, bringing queer and BIPOC perspectives into cultural spaces that have not always made room for them.
